I first read this book in my 20's while living in fairbanks (close to where Chris died) when flying F16s in the AF. I think I was too close to Chris ("I also envisioned walking into the wild") and spent most of my time judging him. Now 30 years later I think I learned more from him. While he made errors brought on by youth and hubris...I respect that he was living a life on his terms and was seeking his personal legend.
Such a fun fable -- such a great illustration of a live well lived as we watch Santiago transform from a child shepard to a man who is seeking his personal legend against such adversity. Love this one! Highly recommended
Favorite quote so far, "The fool, with all of his other faults, has this also, he is always getting ready to live."
Super read...we are all fighting what I call "the little purple man" who sits on our shoulder who tells us we can't do something. Screw him:). I don't care if you are 18 or 58 there is something in here for you -- challenging you to become an even better version of yourself. Great Author:)
